NEOGA — Effingham St. Anthony handed Neoga a loss in high school volleyball competition Tuesday.

The Bulldogs won 25-21, 25-14 to improve to 7-1 on the season. Madelyn Gilmore led in assists with 17. Cara Hatton had 10 kills. Claire Kinkelaar led in digs with nine while Ali Kollmann led in blocks with two.

The St. Anthony junior varsity won 25-22, 25-11. Neoga’s freshmen/sophomores were winners 25-23, 25-17.

At Effingham

Effingham defeated Taylorville Tuesday. The Hearts lost the opener 27-25 but came back with 25-22, 25-22 sets for the victory. The Hearts are now 3-2 on the season.

Melia Wendling led in kills with eight. Macy Kirk had three aces and 22 digs. Bailey Bohnhoff and Camdyn Burgholzer led in assists with 11 each. Kallie Phillips had five blocks.

The Hearts lost in junior varsity play, 10-25, 25-12, 15-11 and freshman/sophomore action, 25-23, 14-25, 11-15.

South Central came calling and claimed a victory over Dieterich in two sets Tuesday.

The Cougars won 25-15, 25-20. Annie Ruholl led in digs with nine. Mya Schaal and Bailey Wodtka had eight kills each. River Yingst led in assists with 15. Wodtka and Yingst had two aces each.

South Central is now 6-2 on the season.

In junior varsity play, Dieterich won 25-18, 27-25. The freshmen/sophomores split with South Central winning 25-9 and Dieterich winning 25-23.

Newton captured the varsity victory over Fairfield Tuesday.

The Eagles won 25-23, 22-25, 25-19 to remain unbeaten at 9-0 on the season.

Thomann led the Eagles in kills with 10 and digs with 16. Schumacher led in aces with two. Stanley had 30 assists. Probst led in blocks with three.

Newton is back in action Thursday at Edwards County.

Teutopolis traveled to Sullivan and won the junior varsity and varsity matches Tuesday.

The Wooden Shoes won 25-17, 25-19 in varsity play and is 5-0 on the season. E. Meyer and Zumbahlen had one block each. Zumbahlen led in aces with four. Tarter led in digs with 12. G. Tegeler had eight kills and Jordan had 26 sets and 15 assists while Swingler had 28 sets and 11 assists.

T-town is back in action Thursday hosting Salem.

St. Elmo/Brownstown was a winner over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, 25-14, 25-7 and now has a four-match winning streak going. The Eagles are now 7-1 on the season and stand at 2-0 in the National Trail Conference and the Egyptian-Illini Conference.

Addison Koonce led the team in assists with 15. Peyton Barker had 13 digs. Chloe Austin led in kills with six.

CHBC was led by Allison Shields with three kills and 16 digs. Zoe Sarver had one block. Natalie Tucker led in assists with four.
