TEUTOPOLIS — Teutopolis played host to Altamont in high school soccer action Tuesday and had a rough night.
Altamont outscored the Wooden Shoes 4-0.
“Another fall and extremely hot start to the game,” said Altamont Coach Eric Morales. “It was back and forth for the first few minutes with T-town taking the reins and putting our defense to the test.
“Right before the first water break, T-town got its best look on a cross ball to Gavin Pals head ball flick that nearly missed the goal. We stepped in and took over possession and control of the game and took it to the T-town defense. We tested their goalie and their speed.
“With just under seven minutes left in the half, Kaleb Overton sent a beautiful cross across the goal to find Hudson short on the opposite side for a one touch left foot finish in the back of the net, taking us into halftime leading 1-0.
“We came out in the second half with the pedal to the floor turning up the heat with a barrage of offense. Just minutes into the second half, Aiden Rosales sent a beautiful corner kick that found Mason Suey who found it at his feet to slightly tap it over the line for the second Indian goal 2-0.
“Minutes later, Hudson Short took a volley of a rebound in front of the goal at the top of the 18 sending a rocket into the back of the net taking the lead to 3-0. As we continued to pressure the defense of T-town over and over hitting the goal post, nearly missing wide and constantly keeping the opposing team running.
“With just under 10 minutes left in the game, Aiden Rosales sent a beautiful through ball down the right side where Ashton Buchanan flew down the field, beating everyone to the ball and broke away to goal alone netting our fourth goal to seal the win.
“Our keeper Eli Barnes got five saves and a shutout. The T-town keeper got two saves.”
Altamont plays its next road game in Olney taking a 6-1 record vs Olney, also with a 6-1 record, in a much anticipated rivalry of the season.
“We had a very rough night against Altamont,” said T-town Coach Aaron Wendt.
The junior varsity teams played to a 2-2 tie. Altamont had goals from Colt Belford and Ethan Runde.
