Effingham High School handed Charleston an 8-1 tennis loss Tuesday.
The Hearts won five of the six singles matches. Nora Mitchell claimed the No. 2 spot, 5-7, 6-3, 10-8. Emma Knaus was a 6-1, 6-2 winner at No. 3. Elle Keller took the No. 4 spot by blanking her opponent 6-0, 6-0. Grace Bergbower won at No. 5 and Emery Spicer captured No. 6, also by blanking their opponents, 6-0, 6-0.
In doubles, Wendling and Spicer were 7-6 (8), 6-3 winners at No. 1. Mitchell and Bergbower took the No. 2 spot, 6-1, 6-1 while Keller and Knause blanked their opponents at No. 3, 6-0, 6-0.

The Bulldogs won two of the four singles matches. Nora Trupiano claimed a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 1 while Trupiano and Avery Jones captured the No. 1 doubles victory, 6-3, 6-3.
Lily Hardiek was a winner at the No. 6 singles spot. No score was listed. Hardiek and Morgan Stephens nabbed the No. 3 doubles victory, 6-1, 6-4.
