All current Effingham golf cart permits expire at midnight on September 30, 2026. New 2026-2027 permits (purple in color) must be displayed beginning October 1, 2026.
Here are the renewal dates:
September 14–online renewals open at the City of Effingham website
September 25–In-person renewals begin at the Effingham Police Department, 110 South 3rd Street, Monday-Friday 8am to 3:30pm.
If you apply online, payment must still be made in person and your new sticker must be picked up on or after September 25.
Items needed:
–completed renewal application
–old permit number
–valid driver’s license
–current proof of insurance
–new signed liability waiver
–payment by cash, check, or money order
Renewal permits are only for golf carts already registered with Effingham Police Department for 2025-2026 that still have all required safety equipment. No new safety inspection is required for qualifying renewals.
