Effingham played host to Dieterich in junior high baseball competition Monday and edged the visitors, 2-1.
The Mustangs moved into a 1-0 opening inning lead. Dieterich tied the score in the top of the fourth. Effingham then tallied a run in the fifth.
Both teams had four hits. Effingham was led by K. Koenig with a single and an RBI. L. Eckert added an RBI.
Dieterich was led by Nussmeyer with two singles and an RBI.
The Mustangs’ R. Eastep took the pitching victory. He went 3.1 innings, giving up two hits, walking three and striking out two. K. Koeberlein opened on the mound, going 3.2 innings, giving up one run, one walk and striking out four.

At Taylorville
Teutopolis started slow, but got its offense going to hand Taylorville an 11-1 loss in five innings of junior high baseball competition Saturday.
Taylorville moved into a 1-0 first inning lead. T-town tied in the second then took a 2-1 lead in the third. The Shoes then tallied three more in the fourth and ended the game via the 10-run rule with six runs in the fifth.
T-town had nine hits led by C. Koester with a single, double and an RBI, C. Mette with a double and two RBI, D. Althoff with two singles and B. Meyer and D. Deters with a single and an RBI each.
M. Kocher took the win on the mound. He went two innings, giving up one run, walking two and striking out three.
