Effingham started busting out the gates early on Tuesday softball with a 8 run lead in the first inning. Coming back the Lady Jr Vandals three runs in the first and with another four in the second inning. The bats slowed for the Vandals but the bats kept slinging for the Mustangs third, fourth and fifth innings.

Wiedman on the mound for the Mustangs, pitching five innings and keeping the game going with six strikeouts, and one walk. Niemerg helping pitch two innings and with four strikeouts and four walks.

It was a tough game with battling both the scorching heat and a tough first inning from the Mustangs.

At NEOGA 

Neoga hosted Dieterich in junior high softball on Tuesday night and took a loss 20-9.

Dieterich defeated Neoga in scoring softball matchup with a aggressive hitting and defensive struggles.

Bruns pitching on the mound earned the win, recording one strikeout and allowing one walk.

Neoga pitcher Will struck out five batters and issued two walks over the course of the game.

Neoga hurt their own defensive efforts by committing 13 errors in the field.

Dieterich leader Icenogle drove in four runs, while Probst brought home three runs to pace the offense.
