The gym was electric as conference rivals collided on the court, but from the opening whistle to the final kill, the night belonged to Newton. Demonstrating depth, disciplined defense, and sharp serving across every tier of their program, the Lady Eagles secured straight-set wins at the freshman/sophomore, JV, and varsity levels.
Fresh/Soph Sets the Tone
The freshman/sophomore squad started the evening strong for Newton. Setting an aggressive tempo right away, Newton cruised through the opening set 25-12, keeping Altamont out of system with consistent serving runs. The Lady Indians regrouped in the second set, finding their rhythm on defense and battling back in several extended rallies. However, Newton’s composure late in the frame proved to be the difference, holding off the push to take the second set 25-21 and clinch the first match of the evening.
JV Delivers Dominant Performance
In junior varsity play, Newton wasted no time seizing full momentum. Moving the ball crisply and putting on a serving clinic, the Lady Eagles dictated every phase of the game. They took the opening set in commanding fashion, 25-10, before turning up the defensive intensity in set two. Holding Altamont to single digits, Newton closed out the match with a decisive 25-7 blowout.
Varsity Closes the Sweep
Looking to cap off the program sweep, the Newton varsity squad carried over the JV’s dominant energy into the night’s headline matchup.
Set 1 (25-10): Newton came out firing, quickly constructing an insurmountable lead with aggressive net play and pinpoint serving that kept Altamont on the back foot. Set one ended swiftly in favor of the Eagles, 25-10.
Set 2 (25-21): Altamont refused to go quietly, putting together a spirited response in the second frame. Cleaning up their serve receive and capitalizing on transition spikes, the Lady Indians pushed Newton to the wire. But with the set knotted up in the late teens, the Eagles leaned on their experience at the net and clamped down defensively, scoring key points down the stretch to close out the 25-21 set win.
With three straight-set sweeps, Newton closed out the night on a high note, sending a strong statement about the strength and depth of their roster from top to bottom.

CISNE–
The South Central Lady Cougars picked up a 2 set win against Cisne 25-19, 25-12 on Tuesday nights volleyball action. The JV won in 2 sets 25-21, 25-21 and the Fr/So split 22-25, 25-23.
South Central will take the court with St. Elmo/Brownstown Thursday.
