An Effingham teenager was injured in a single-vehicle crash in Mason Township early Sunday morning.
The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office reported a motorcycle operated by 21-year-old Christian Jokisch of Effingham was traveling westbound on 225th Avenue at 2am. At the intersection with 1100th Street, Jokisch entered the intersection at a high rate of speed, lost control of the cycle on loose gravel, and crashed.
Jokisch and his passenger, 18-year-old Gabriel Wert of Effingham, and were ejected from the cycle. The Sheriff’s Office reported that the occupants initially left the scene in a private vehicle to seek medical treatment, and were later treated by Rural Med EMS, then transported to HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital.
Jokisch was cited for operating an unlicensed vehicle, no valid registration, and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
