One person was injured in a crash Sunday morning in Effingham County.
The crash happened at 6:46am on Illinois Route 33 at 1000th Street in Summit Township. The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office reported a car driven by 23-year-old Brayan Maldonado Sandoval of Effingham was traveling on Route 33 and turned south onto 1000th Street, which is Lake Sara Road. Authorities say Sandoval took the turn too wide and drove into the ditch on the southwest corner of the intersection.
Sandoval was taken for treatment by Rural Med EMS to HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
Sandoval was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash.
