Betty Lamb of Olney, IL passed away August 25th 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
Betty was born on April 18th 1944 in Olney, IL to Leo Wilburt VanFossen and Gladys Virginia (Heddelson) VanFossen. She was raised in Noble, IL and spent her life surrounded by people and the community she loved.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at 10:00 AM. at the Meyer Funeral Home in Olney, Illinois, with a visitation for family and friends on Monday August 31, 2026, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. at the Meyer Funeral Home in Olney, Illinois. Burial will follow at the Greenhill Cemetery rural Noble, Illinois. In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to the donors choice. The obituary can be viewed, and condolences left at www.meyerfh.com.
On December 31st, 1980, Betty married her second husband William “Bill” Milton Lamb who proceeded her in death in 2013. Betty and Bill built a beautiful blended family together and shared many loving years. Together, their family included seven children; Betty’s children, Jeanne Reynolds, Randy Utley, and Tony Utley; and a daughter whose name is lovingly remembered by the family. Bill’s children, Shawn Lamb, Mike Lamb, and Billy Lamb.
Later in life, Betty met her special friend Bob Reich and the two shared many good times together. Their friendship brought joy and companionship to her life.
Betty spent many years caring for and serving others. She worked at Burgin Manor, where she lovingly cared for the elderly. Throughout her life, she also devoted many years to being a homemaker and babysitting children. Betty worked for many years cleaning at Weinmanns and also drove a school bus. After retiring, she cherished spending her time watching her great-grandbabies, whom she adored so much. Caring for her family and being surrounded by the little ones she loved brought Betty tremendous joy.
More than anything, Betty enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She loved making memories while camping, quilting, taking trips, and traveling with her daughter and friends. Betty also enjoyed yard saleing, visiting thrift stores, and hosting family get-togethers. She loved dressing up for Halloween and having fun with those around her. In her earlier years, Betty also loved going sledding. No matter what she was doing, her greatest joy was always being surrounded by the people she loved most.
Betty is survived by her loving daughter, Jeanne Reynolds of Noble, Illinois; her sons, Randy (Michelle) Utley of Noble, Illinois, and Tony (Regina) Utley of Noble, Illinois; her stepchildren, Shawn (Shannon) Lamb, Mike Lamb, and Billy Lamb, all of Noble, Illinois; and her son-in-law, Andrew Friedrich of Olney, Illinois.
Betty is also survived by her beloved grandchildren: Tyler Reynolds of Noble, Illinois; Brittney (Matthew) Thomason of Olney, Illinois; Whittney (Justin) Gill of Mt. Erie, Illinois; Randy (Alyssa) Utley of Claremont, Illinois; Drake Withrow, Dillon Withrow, and Whitney Buescher, all of Noble, Illinois; Derek (Jessi) Utley of Centralia, Illinois; Dalton Utley of Noble, Illinois; Jordan Cook of Owensboro, Kentucky; Lucas Cook of Princeton, Indiana; Riley and Addy Friedrich of Olney, Illinois; Erica (Dirk) Hockman of Flora, Illinois; Blake Lamb of Noble, Illinois; Lacy Lamb of Noble, Illinois; and Cheyla (Chris) Brody of St. Marie, Illinois. Betty was also blessed with 17 very special great-grandchildren and her special friend, Bob Rich.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Gladys VanFossen; her beloved husband, William “Bill” Lamb; her daughter, Sandra Friedrich; her brothers, Donnie and Bob VanFossen; her sisters-in-law, Pat and Sharon VanFossen and Mary Hunt; her brother-in-law, Don Hunt; and her son-in-law, John Cook.
