ALTAMONT — Altamont High School played host to Robinson in its Annual Soccer Tournament and came out a 2-0 winner Tuesday.
“It was a hot scorcher today,” said Altamont Coach Eric Morales. “Robinson came in with a strong force but we stayed relaxed, waited our chance and jumped on it as soon as it became available. We played with a very hard pace, pushing Robinson to its limit.
“Aidan Rosales got the foul in the 17th minute creating a beautiful penalty kick shot. Minutes later, Quincy Nierman found Calvin Bannister with a beautiful through ball for a gorgeous finish.
“We held strong for the win. We peppered the Robinson goalie, outshooting the Maroons 22-9 with 15 on-goal to Robinson’s five.”
In the other match, St. Anthony lost to Arthur, 7-0.
Altamont plays host to St. Anthony for the second round of tournament play in the Altamont Annual Soccer Tournament.
