Effingham pounded Charleston in junior high softball action Thursday, 11-1 in five innings.
The Mustangs ripped out to a 5-0 opening inning lead and never looked back. They finished with 11 hits and were aided by seven Charleston errors.
A. Gouchenouer had a solo home run for Effingham while K. Robertson finished with two singles, a triple and an RBI. K. Jones added a double and two RBI. H. Westjohn finished with two singles. T. Patton and M. Hartke added a single and two RBI each.
S. Wiedman went two innings for the win on the mound. She gave up one hit and struck out one. L. Lauritzen came on and went the final three innings. She gave up one run on three hits, walked three and struck out five.

At Neoga
Neoga moved into a 4-1 lead in the fourth inning but Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City pushed ahead with four in the fifth and led 7-4 in the top of the sixth. Neoga came back with three runs to tie the game in the bottom of the sixth and scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh for the 8-7 victory Thursday.
Neoga had only four hits led by Will with two singles, a double and two RBI. Whitaker had a single.
The Bobcats had nine hits but committed four errors. E. Wheeler led with a single, double, triple and three RBI while M. Prater had two singles and an RBI.
Will was the winning pitcher, going all seven innings, giving up seven runs on nine hits, walking three and striking out seven.
