Sandy J. Chandler, 65, of Effingham, IL, passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2026 at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 18, 2026 at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Effingham. Services are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Sandy was born on March 31, 1961, in Cook County, IL, the daughter of Mick and Jean (Chemelick) Mandolesi. Sandy fought cancer for 25 years, and beat it twice, never letting it define her. She was a loving mother to her children, and many dogs and cats. Sandy loved to ride her bike, and was an avid fan of the Hanson band, and Chicago Cubs. She was a waitress for many years serving
customers at the Dumpling House, Seneca Restaurant in Berwyn, and Denny’s in Effingham. She was a member of the Head Start Early Learning Council. Sandy loved her community and will
always be remembered for her big heart and always caring for others more than herself.
Sandy is survived by her sons, Jordan Chandler and Dominic Prancik; daughter, Donna Ham; former husband, William Chandler; former significant other, Louie Prancik; and numerous grandkids.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Danny Mandolesi; and sister, Donna Smith.
