Greg A. Anderson, 61, of Effingham, Illinois, passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2026 at his home.
Greg was born October 17, 1964 in Decatur, Illinois, the son of James “Leon” and Dessie “Blanche” (Farquhar) Anderson. He married Martha Hellman on September 17, 2016, and she survives. Greg was an outdoorsman and he loved to fish and hunt. He loved to spend time with his family and he loved his wife and his grandbabies. He never knew a stranger and made friends everywhere he went. He grew up in Noble and made many lifelong friends there. Greg was a firefighter for the Noble Fire Department and an auxiliary deputy for the Richland County Sheriff’s Department. He had a contagious laugh and was a fantastic storyteller. Greg was a proud father, grandfather, and husband, and he loved his family deeply. He will be dearly missed and always with us.
Greg is survived by his wife, Martha of Effingham, IL; son, Jake Anderson of Noble, IL; stepson, Alex Phillips of Effingham, IL; grandchildren, Chloe, Raylan, Maverick, Beckam, Jensen, and Elena; Michelle (Brian) Weidner, and his nieces and a nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Danielle Anderson; infant brother, Nathan.
Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney has been entrusted with arrangements. Cremation Rites will be accorded. Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM Saturday, August 15 at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney, followed immediately by a memorial service for Greg at 5:00 PM Saturday.
