Steve Lake passed away on the morning of July 27, 2026 at the age of 77 at his residence in Hilham, Tennessee.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Dieterich, IL.
Steve was born July 8, 1949 , the son of Drallie (Woody) Lake and William Lloyd (Doc) Lake. Because of the Effingham hospital fire, he was born in Salem Memorial Hospital. He graduated from Dieterich High School in 1967 and served two years in the army, much of it driving supplies in Germany. He married Barb Miller in 1970 and they had three children, Shonda, Chad, and Chasta. He was a member of Operating Engineers Union Local 841 in Terre Haute, IN, working all over the United States and in a few foreign countries. He married his wife Trellis with whom he shared the many wonderful experiences of traveling the world building pipelines. Steve had a story for every occasion from growing up on the farm in Lucas township, quail hunting, family lore, and pipeline adventures.
He is survived by his wife Trellis (Helham, Tn), daughter Shonda Lake (Medford, OR), Chasta (Brandon) Knight, Central Point, OR, son Chad Lake and stepdaughter Christina Brock (Bristol, TN). Grandchildren Phoebe Knight, Bella Rae Knight, and Cyrus Knight all of Medford, Or. Also surviving, sister Judy (Carl) Schottman Dieterich, IL sister-in-law Rosemary Lake, Leesburg, Fl. Nephews Jim Lake, Robert Schottman, niece Diane Schottman (Tom) Vu). He is also survived by several grandnieces and grandnephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Drallie Lake, brother David Lake, and nephew John Lake.
