The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office and the Altamont Police Department responded to an unresponsive man Tuesday afternoon at a residence in rural Altamont.
Officers arrived and discovered the man dead outside of his garage. He was identified as Roger Combs, age 66 of Altamont. The Coroner’s Office was notified and responded to the scene. It appears the death is from natural causes and no foul play is suspected.
Toxicology samples were obtained by the coroner’s office and medical records were requested from his primary physician at the Veterans Affairs Office.
The death remains under investigation by the Effingham County Coroner’s Office and the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office.
