The Fayette County Coroner’s Office was called to the scene of a fatal single vehicle accident involving a semi-tractor trailer near St. Elmo on Friday evening.
The semi left the eastbound lane of Interstate 70 at the overpass by the railroad tracks, overturned and came to rest on the driver’s side.
The 49-yearold female operator of the semi was identified as Olha Dykhtiar of Ohio. She was pronounced deceased at the scene. An autopsy has been scheduled for Monday in Springfield.
No other information is being released as the accident is still being investigated by the Coroner’s Office and the ISP.
Fire Departments from nearby communities were also present along with the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office and the St. Elmo Police Department.
