The Effingham Public Library Board approved the transfer of $50,000 to the Special Reserves Fund.

Library Director Amanda McKay said the funds will be available “for a rainy day”.

McKay updated the Board on the Summer Reading Program. She said the last call for the program will be Friday night, and added that 83% of those who signed up completed the program.

A Board Retreat has been scheduled in conjunction with the October 19 board meeting. The Board also reviewed per capita grant requirements, and discussed the use of AI in library materials and how to educate the public regarding the use of AI.

Time was also allocated to review public access to Illinois’ Electronic Information Network.
