Effingham Unit 40 school board members Monday agreed the district should serve as the administrative agent for the CORE and ERCF Program. The program will make available coursework for students in more than a dozen school districts.
There was a change from what was first proposed, though; Unit 40 will serve as the administrative agent, but not as the fiscal agent for the program as was approved in November.
Recognition was given to the Little Hearts Early Child Care Program, which was presented the Gold Award by ExCelerate Illinois for the third straight year.
The Board approved a radio upgrade proposal from Global Technical Systems for just over $61,000; and helped recognize junior high track athletes who made it to State this spring.
In personnel action, the Unit 40 Board hired Leland Knierim as mid-day PreK and AM/PM special needs bus driver; Kylee Schultz and Brooke Overbeck as parapros at the Early Learning Center; Beth Walker as a three-hour cashier at EHS; Megan Faber and Kevin Faber as cafeteria monitors at Central; Sullymar Rivera Perez as an ESL teacher for the second semester of the coming school year; Jordan Andruch as 21st Century Grant Program Coordinator and as district assistant athletic director for the coming school year; Dan Rodriguez and Larry Micenheimer as AM/PM bus drivers; Brittany Coomer as junior high assistant softball coach; and Antonio Munoz as fresh/soph volleyball coach.
Transfers were approved for Jacob Stoneburner as high school assistant football coach; Steven King as day shift custodian at Central; and Drew Deters as volunteer assistant soccer coach.
Approved as volunteers were Kristen Armstrong and Lanie Carder as high school girls tennis coaches, and Mark Burgess as high school girls assistant golf coach.
Resignations were accepted from Nathaniel Boggs as high school assistant football coach; Becky Quandt as 6th grade volleyball coach; Cindy Deters as lunchroom supervisor at Central; Paula Fulk-Murillo as teacher assistant at Little Hearts; Kelsey Whitehead as lead instructor at Little Hearts; Drew Deters as assistant soccer coach; and Elizabeth Stevenson as Kindergarten teacher.
Stipends were approved for Drew Deters as interim transportation director and Kevin Shamhart as interim assistant transportation director for the coming school year.
