Effingham Park Board commissioners discussed what might be developed as far as water attractions at Evergreen Hollow Park.

No decisions were reached. A splash pad is something being considered. Park District Director Jeff Althoff said he wants a plan developed that can be presented to the public.

Commissioners also want a new restroom facility developed at Hendelmeyer Park. Althoff thinks the facility could be built using Park District forces.

There was also discussion about the storage shed and restroom facility to be built by the City at Community Park. Prices came in higher than were hoped when bids were sought on the project.

The budget and appropriations ordinance for the new fiscal year were approved. There were no changes from the tentative measure reviewed at the Board’s June meeting.

Althoff said baseball and softball leagues are wrapping up, and said there were about 140 kids attending the camp featuring former St. Louis Cardinals baseball players at Community Park. Adventure Camp is still underway.

Althoff also reported that Jamie Stang Ellis is creating a mural at the skate park at Hendelmeyer Park. It’s hoped the creation could be completed in time for the Ham City Jam at the skate park this Saturday.
