Altamont City Council members Monday announced an estimated appropriation for the coming fiscal year at $9,566,366. That’s an increase of $121,000 from last year, but the amount could change in the final appropriation.

The Council approved an ownership change for the sanitation service serving Altamont. Steve Stortzum of Louisville will be the new owner, starting August 1. There will be no changes for customers.

Council members approved a payment of $22,300 in TIF funds to C&C Excavating for improvements to Rocket Road, and approved a street closure from 9am to 1pm on July 25 for North 2nd Street from Madison to Monroe for First United Methodist Church’s Vacation Bible School.

The Altamont Council approved an intergovernmental agreement with Altamont Unit 10 school district for an electric service for the grade school addition approved at Monday night’s school board meeting. An electric line will be relocated using $44,000 in TIF funds. Also approved was TIF funded work on the exterior of a building owned by Tyler Polk, and a client authorization for a law student representing Taylor Law Offices.
