Ronald G. “Ron” Kraft, 76 of Teutopolis, passed away Thursday, June 18, 2026 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis. Inurnment, with military rites, will take place at a later date in the columbarium at St. Francis Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
Ron was born December 13, 1949 in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of George and Elizabeth (Wiegand) Kraft. He married Deidre Lynn Humphrey on January 25, 1989. Ron proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He dedicated many years of his career as a Master Control Operator at WEIU, where he was known for his strong work ethic and commitment. Outside of work, Ron enjoyed spending time on the golf course, bowling with friends, cheering on his beloved Cardinals, and listening to music—especially The Beatles, of whom he was perhaps the biggest fan. A gifted poet, Ron had a unique ability to express his thoughts and feelings through the written word.
Whether his jokes earned laughter or groans, Ron always had one ready to tell. His sense of humor was part of who he was, and those who loved him will forever miss hearing his stories, punchlines, and laughter.
Above all else, Ron cherished his family. He adored his wife, Lynn, loved his children beyond measure, and found his greatest joy in being “Paw-Paw” to his grandchildren. His love, guidance, humor, and presence touched the lives of all who knew him. Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in the memories he leaves behind. He leaves an empty place at our table and in our hearts, but his love will remain with us always.
Ron is survived by his wife, Lynn of Teutopolis; daughters, Danielle (Robert) Hite of Stewardson and Megan of Effingham; son, Ryan of Teutopolis grandchildren, Jackson, Emma, and Decklyn of Stewardson; brother, Terry (Gail) of Effingham; brother-in-law, Lowell Moomaw Jr. of Stewardson.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Sue Moomaw.
