Altamont school board members Monday approved fund transfers to allow for capital improvement projects.
The Board transferred interest earned in the working cash fund and bond and interest funds. and also transferred a lump sum of $633,000 to capital projects. The funds transferred are for the purpose of the high school parking lot resurfacing project and for junior high HVAC repairs.
Board members awarded a commercial insurance bid to Counties Risk Management Trust for package coverage, Coalition for cyber security coverage, Liberty Mutual for the treasurer’s bond, and Gerber Life for blanket and catastrophic student accident coverage. The Board also purchased 500 chromebooks from Vivacity Tech for $217,350; approved an overnight trip for boys basketball to Goreville for a shootout; and approved an early graduation request for a student.
The Altamont board employed Jason Caraway as junior high softball coach, Madison Gordon as a first grade teacher, and Jason Koester as a sub bus driver, and accepted the resignation of Lynsey Thoele as a high school Science teacher. They also discussed track shed color choices, with the team going for light stone and burnished slate.
The Board also approved an amended budget for the current fiscal year, and purchased a used 2023 activity bus from Southern Bus Mobility for $77,000.
