Jerry G. Quick, 84, of Neoga, Illinois passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2026 at his home.
He was born June 28, 1941 in Olney, Illinois the son of Wilfred and Anna (Sparr) Quick. He married Frances Walker on September 3, 1966 in Newton, Illinois. Jerry proudly served in the United States Army from 1963 to 1965. He was stationed in Fort Shafter Hawaii as a lifeguard. He was employed by RR Donnelley and Sons Printing company for 27 years his career spanned from pressman to quality control analyst. Jerry was an avid outdoors enthusiast. He loved fishing and hunting. Jerry enjoyed gardening and tending to the local wildlife. He loved his berry bushes, fruit trees and nut trees. He was known for bringing home stray animals and rescuing them.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 60 years Frances Quick; sister, Devra Johnson of Herrick, Illinois; brother, David (Polly) Quick of Mattoon, Illinois; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Phyllis Cummins.
Visitation will be held Tuesday June 9, 2026 at 10am until 11am at the Swengel-O’Dell Funeral Home of Neoga, Illinois. A burial service will follow at Neoga Memorial Cemetery with Pastor Paul Dickerson and military honors performed by the Neoga American Legion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jerry’s honor to any animal rescue of your choice. The Swengel – O’Dell Funeral Home of Neoga, Illinois is assisting the family with arrangements.
