Teutopolis and Effingham St. Anthony will meet for the championship of the Class 2A Vandalia Baseball Regional after both came out winners Wednesday.
Teutopolis downed Salem by a 4-1 count in Game 2.
The Wildcats moved into a 1-0 lead in the second inning. T-town came back to knot the score at 1-1 in the fourth. The Shoes then broke loose with three runs in the sixth for the win.
T-town’s Gavin Addis held the Wildcats to one run on three hits, He walked only one and struck out 11. He improved his record to 3-3.
Meanwhile, T-town finished with eight hits. Austin Borries had a single and a solo home run. Bryce Niebrugge finished with a single, double and three RBI.
Also adding hits were Andy Lustig, Davin Worman, Aidan Niemerg and Nolan Schumacher with a single each.
The Shoes improved to 26-8 on the season while Salem ended with a 10-25 record.
St. Anthony moved into a 3-0 opening inning lead in Game 3 and never looked back in a 10-0 victory over Vandalia in five innings via the 10-run rule.
The Bulldogs tallied three more runs in the third and finished with four in the fifth.
Hayden Bushur contained the Vandals. He went five innings, giving up only two hits. He did not allow a walk and struck out two.
Meanwhile, St. Anthony had 13 hits led by Henry Brent with two singles, two doubles and an RBI, Charlie Spour with a single, double, home run and four RBI, Aidan Lauritizen with a solo homer, Blake Verdeyen with a single, double and an RBI and Rogan Allen with two singles and three RBI.
St. Anthony and Teutopolis will square off for the regional championship Saturday at 1 p.m. The winner will head to the Greenville Sectional taking on the winner of the Glen Carbon Father McGivney Regional at 2 p.m.
