Sally Perles might tell you that it was by chance that she has provided help to dogs and cats in the Effingham area for many years, but judging by her efforts it doesn’t seem to be the case.

Perles has been an ambassador for EARS…Effingham Animal Rescue Sanctuary since encountering some animals without a home while on her way with her husband to a Halloween party. That started a journey that began in 2010.

EARS operates through fundraisers and donations and is operated solely by volunteers. Perles said efforts to spay and neuter animals and to foster animals until they are adopted are ways to control the pet population and to promote a no-kill philosophy in the county.

Look for boxes where donations for EARS are collected and take part in events such a Jeep run coming soon.

The meeting also provided a time to recognize Kirchhoff for his Paul Harris +7 Fellowship Pin and Noon Rotarian Roger Stevenson for his initial Fellowship Pin.
