 St. Anthony Wins Class 1A State Track Championship, Area Girls Do Well At Class 1A, 2A State Meets

What a great performance by our two girls that advanced to the State finals on Saturday,” said St. Anthony Coach Randy Blake. “These two girls won six medals between them to win the 2026 state championship.

“Reese Hoene broke four school records. On Thursday she broke the 100 meter record in prelims with a time of 12.21 seconds.

“Saturday she finished third in the 100m in 12.36.

“She broke three school records later. The 200m she won in 24.40. She won the 400m in 55.40 and she finished second in the long jump at 5.68m (18’7.75”).

“Aubrey Denning had two season best runs. She finished third in the 800m in 2:15.62, and finished sixth in the 1600m in 5:04.01.

“Combined they scored 46 points to tie Maroa-Forsyth for the State title. The first in school history for our girls track.”

Teutopolis finished fourth as a team behind St. Anthony and Maroa-Forysth who tied for first with 46 points each, Lena-Winslow with 43 for second and Oregon and Winnebago who tied for third with 29 each.

T-town’s Isabella Niebrugge claimed third place in the 300 hurdles with a time of 44.78 seconds. Bella Ordner was eighth in the 100 hurdles in 15.70.

The Wooden Shoes’ 4×100 relay team took second with a time of 49.20 seconds. Team members were Emma Isley, Ordner, Adrienne Koester and Niebrugge.

Newton’s 4×100 relay team finished in third place with a time of 49.46 seconds. Team members were Emma Schumacher, Mariah McVicar, Morgan Schafer and Stella Schackmann.

The 4×800 relay team of Layna Marshall, Avery Geier, Brooke Gentry and Grace Schumacher finished ninth in 9:51.35 minutes.

North Clay’s Karsyn Gaddy was 15th in with the discus with a throw of 34.19 meters.

In the Class 2A State Meet, Effingham’s Camdyn Burgholzer finished third in the high jump at 1.61 meters.

Keagyn Koenig was fourth in the shot with a heave of 11.86 meters.
