 South Central Wins Softball Regional, T-town’s Season Ends, Marshall Wins St. A Regional

South Central Wins Own Softball Regional Title

South Central claimed the championship of its own Class 1A Softball Regional Friday.

The Cougars moved into a 2-0 opening inning lead and added on two more runs in the second and fourth around a single run in the third. They finished out strong with three in the sixth to end the game via the 10-run rule by a 10-0 count.

South Central finished with 12 hits and was aided by eight Hutsonville/Palestine errors.

Kinlee Thompson had a single, double and an RBI while Maddie Peddicord added a double and an RBI. Emily Rose finished with three singles and two RBI. Addy Ruholl tallied two singles and two RBI, Emmie Ruholl two singles and an RBI while Perci Reed had two singles.

Lauren Johnson tossed the six innings giving up no runs on four hits, two walks while striking out six.

This was the fifth straight regional championship for South Central.

The Cougars head on to the Casey-Westfield Sectional today and will face Casey-Westfield at 4:30 p.m. The second game will feature Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg against Edwards County (Albion) at 6:30 p.m.

At Teutopolis

Robinson edged Teutopolis 2-1 in the championship game of the Class 2A Teutopolis Regional Friday.

The Wooden Shoes held a 1-0 lead in the first inning but Robinson tied in the third. The game went into the bottom of the eighth before Robinson won.

T-town had three hits led by Malea Helmink with a solo home run while Kera Hartke added a double.

Robinson advances to the Monticello Sectional Wednesday to face Tolono Unity at 5 p.m.

Class 2A St. Anthony Regional

Marshall was the winner in the St. Anthony Regional Friday.

Marshall handed Paris a 6-2 loss to claim the regional title.

Marshall now advances to the Monticello Sectional today and will face Bloomington Central Catholic at 5 p.m.
