The City of Effingham has issued a statement in the wake of Wednesday’s ruling by the 5th District Appellate Court in the City’s favor in the Village Square Mall case.
The City foreclosed on the liens for work it performed on the Mall that ultimately resulted in the sale of the Mall. The Appellate Court issued a ruling affirming the Order of Judgment for foreclosure and sale entered on behalf of the City of Effingham against Durga Property Holdings, Inc.
Here’s a portion of the statement: “The City is pleased to receive the favorable ruling. Once the time period for any further appeal expires, the City plans to continue to move forward with the redevelopment of the Mall.”
Durga Property Holdings has until the middle of June if it wants to appeal the decision to the Illinois Supreme Court.
