Teutopolis village board members Wednesday approved a joint funding agreement with IDOT for a project involving improvements to road intersections. The project will also involve the City of Effingham along US Route 40.
The Board approved a change order on a box culvert project on John Street. The award for $171,445 to Effingham Asphalt is related to installation of storm sewer along Oak Street. Board members also held off for now on the layout of a possible third TIF District on the west side of the village, but did act on a measure related to the district for those who information on the project.
Board members discussed where to locate the village welcome sign on the east end of town. A house is being built where the sign has been located. Work is also beginning on sending letters to property owners with tall weeds and grass needing addressed.
The Board passed an ordinance regulating the sale of display fireworks. There is interest in a fireworks display for Cruise Night in June. Board members also hired Michael Ryder as a village foreman at $35/hour and hired Larry Manuel as a water and wastewater maintenance technician for $31/hour.
