Effingham and Effingham St. Anthony saw their softball seasons come to a close at the Class 2A St. Anthony Softball Regional Wednesday.
Paris moved into a 1-0 opening inning lead then tacked on six more runs in the second against Effingham. The Hearts came back with a single run in the third and attempted a comeback in the bottom of the seventh only to score one more run to fall 7-2.
Paris had five hits led by Jacie Young with a single, home run and three RBI and Mattie Carter with a double.
The Hearts had a double by Gieah Schlanser and a single and an RBI by Cora Hartmann.
Ava Tarr was the winning pitcher for the Tigers. She went 3.2 innings, giving up two runs on two hits. She did not allow a walk.
Natalie Armstrong and Layla McBride combined to strike out eight in the contest.
In the second game, Marshall edged St. Anthony, 4-3.
The two teams went through four innings with not score. St. Anthony then moved into a 2-0 lead in the top of the fifth only to see Marshall come back with three runs in the bottom of the frame.
St. Anthony then tied the score in the sixth but Marshall won the game in the bottom of the seventh.
St. Anthony had five hits but committed four errors. Lilly Gannaway had the lone extra base hit of the game, a double and two RBI.

At Teutopolis
Teutopolis edged Newton 3-2 in the Class 2A Teutopolis Regional Wednesday.
Both teams scored in the third inning. Newton moved ahead 1-0 but T-town came back to take the 2-1 lead. The Shoes added on their third run in the sixth. Newton attempted a comeback in the top of the seventh only to fall short.
T-town had five hits led by Olivia Wermert with a double. Chloe Hoene and Mallory Bloemer had a single and an RBI each. Kylie Borries added an RBI.
Alyssa Tipton went the seven innings on the mound. She gave up two runs on four hits, struck out nine and walked five.
Newton was led by Allie Hermann with a solo home run, Izzy Meinhart with two singles and Paige Wagner with an RBI.
In the second contest, Robinson won over Shelbyville, 8-1.
T-town and Robinson will square off for the championship of the regional Friday at 4:30 p.m.
