 Four Effingham Athletes Advance To Class 2A State In Boys Track

MONTICELLO — Four Effingham High School athletes advanced to the Class 2A State Boys Track Meet after qualifying at the Monticello Sectional Wednesday.

Jenner Pals claimed second place at the high jump with a leap of 1.93 meters.

Alex Gordon also had a second place finish. He went 1:58.88 minutes in the 800 to take that spot and advance.

Blayne Ring took third in the discus with a qualifying toss of 45.77 meters.

Reaching State in the long jump was Maxx Kistler. Kistler claimed fourth place as the top six long jumpers advanced with qualifying leaps. Kistler had a jump of 6.56 meters.

Effingham finished tied for fifth out of 16 teams. Mount Zion won the meet with 112 points followed by Olney/Richland County 109, Tolono Unity 68, Monticello 56, Effingham 51.5, St. Joseph-Ogden 51.5, Danville 49, Charleston 41, Salem 40, Urbana 27, Paris 25, Decatur MacArthur 22, Decatur Eisenhower 15, Mount Carmel 14, Mattoon 13 and Argenta-Oreana 8.
