 Parkland College Splits At World Softball Series

SPARTANBURG, S.C. — Parkland College claimed a victory and suffered a loss at the NJCAA Division II World Softball Series Tuesday.

Parkland blanked Richard Bland College 3-0. Lucy Fearday, an Effingham St. Anthony graduate, went the distance on the mound. She allowed seven hits while striking out five.

Parkland opened the game with runs in the first inning before adding on in the fifth and sixth innings.

Lindsy Muskopf had a triple for Parkland while Fearday finished with two singles. Lainey Klokkenga had two sacrifice flies for two RBI.

Nicole Sinks drew three walks and scored a run. Effingham High School graduate Saige Althoff was a pinch runner and added a run as she crossed home plate.

In the second contest, the Cobras went up against the reigning champion Copian-Lincoln Community College and fell 8-0 in six innings.

Parkland did not have a hit in the contest.

Copian-Lincoln tallied three runs in the fourth inning and finished with five over the final two innings.

Parkland will be back in action today against Cecil College South Carolina in an elimination game.
