 Newton Downs Carterville 10-5 In High School Baseball

FAIRFIELD — The lone area high school baseball game that was played found Newton beating Carterville, 10-5 at Frontier College in Fairfield Monday.

The Eagles moved into a 2-0 opening inning lead. They led 5-4 after four and then tallied five more runs in the sixth.

Both teams had 10 hits. Newton was led by Quincy Fulton with a single, triple and an RBI, Drake Wolf with a double and two RBI, Gavin Meinhart with two singles and an RBI, Chance Mulvey with two singles, Jackson James and Dominic Baltzell with a single and an RBI each, Maddox Horner with two RBI and David Ferguson with an RBI.

Carson Bartheleme went six innings on the mound for the victory. He gave up five runs on 10 hits, did not allow a walk and struck out three.
