Mary and Richard Althoff of Effingham recently donated $10,000 to the Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Foundation to benefit SBL Hospice.
Mary Althoff is currently receiving hospice care from SBL and wanted to donate because she’s very grateful for the care she’s receiving, evident by wanting one of her favorite nurses, Elizabeth Hemmen, in the photo.
“The SBL Hospice staff has been so good to me, and I want to show my gratitude for what they all they do,” she said. The Althoffs’ donation will help people currently receiving hospice who have no or limited insurance to cover their care, as well as help to fund last wishes for hospice patients.
“When I received a call from Tammy, Richard and Mary’s daughter, I was completely humbled and honored to meet with them and accept this donation, in honor of Mary and the care she’s receiving,” said Amy Card, SBL Health Foundation director. “They’re a wonderful family and will touch many lives of future patients receiving our hospice care.”
