Beecher City school board members voted Monday to move ahead with design of a four-classroom/restroom addition at the junior/senior high school building.
The Upchurch Group of Mattoon will handle the design work. The vote to approve was 6-0. Member Jordan Shields was not present for the meeting.
The Board reorganized for the next term. David Doty was re-elected Board President, Ryan Schaefer was elected Vice-President, and Shields was elected Secretary.
Board members approved a tentative amended budget for the current school year with final action expected in June. Aaron Summers was approved the EIASE board representative for the coming school year, and fees were approved for the coming school year. Also, any interest earned on the working cash fund for this school year was transferred to the education fund.
The Board approved changes to the student handbook for the coming school year, and renewal of agreements with the IESA for the coming two school years was approved.
Board members approved the addition of high school boys and girls golf, in a co-op with the Cowden-Herrick school district for the coming school year. The Board renewed the contract for social worker Jenna Tedrick, and accepted a letter of resignation from teacher Amber Brungard.
