 Cumberland Wins Boys, St. Anthony Girls National Trail Conference Track Meets

Cumberland and Effingham St. Anthony came out the winners in the National Trail Conference boys and girls track meets at Altamont Grade School Wednesday.

Cumberland won the boys meet with 175 points followed by Altamont 80, Neoga 80, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 66, St. Anthony 64, Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg 43, Dieterich 20, Brownstown/St. Elmo 19 and North Clay 1.

Cumberland’s Reid Carlen was a double event winner. Carlen claimed the 100 with a time of 11.09 seconds and took the 200 in 22.25.

He also was a member of two winning relay teams. Cumberland picked up three of the four relay victories. The Pirates won the 4×100 in 45.25 seconds. Team members were Cael McMechan, Landon Finn, Logan Gerhardt and Calen. Cumberland took the 4×200 in 1:35.90 minutes. Members of the team were Jacob Pierce, McMechan, Finn and Carlen. The Pirates also captured the 4×400 relay in 3:39.24 minutes. Team members were Gerhardt, Kaleb Bierman, Jonah Tibbs and Chace Farr.

The Pirates’ Kaleb Bierman won the 400 in 53.62 seconds. Isaac Venatta claimed the discus with a throw of 44.10 meters. Landon Finn won the long jump at 6.05 meters while Reed Miller took the triple jump at 12.41 meters.

Dieterich’s Trevor Crutcher claimed two victories. He won the 1600 in 4:33.43 minutes and the 3200 in 9:42.40.

St. Anthony’s Eli Hiatt won the 110 hurdles in 15.92 seconds and the 300 hurdles in 42.19.

Neoga was a winner in the 4×800 relay in 8:39.23 minutes. Team members were Brett Matusas, Jayton Hanfland, Tate Christner and Kaden Bryant. The Indians’ Brayden Ray claimed the high jump at 1.82 meters.

Altamont’s Brock Wendling won the shot with a heave of 15.06 meters. Kaiden Wolff won the pole vault at 3.14 meters.

In the girls meet, St. Anthony won with 152 points followed by Cumberland 88, Altamont 81, Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg 47, North Clay 46, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 30, Neoga 27 and Brownstown/St. Elmo 22.

The Bulldogs’ Reese Hoene was a triple event winner while Aubrey Denning won twice.

Hoene claimed the 100 in 12.45 seconds, the 400 in 59.42 and the long jump at 5.22 meters.

Denning won the 800 in 2:21.57 minutes and the 1600 in 5:30.70.

Madilyn Haarmann won the shot with a toss of 9.38 meters. Taylor Denning claimed the pole vault at 2.43 meters.

St. Anthony was a winner in the 4×400 relay in 4:33.93 minutes. Team members were Liv Hoene, Rachel Emmerich, Elisabeth Grunloh and Denning.

Altamont’s Baileigh Starnes won the 200 in 27.53 seconds. Keely Fleeharty won the high jump at 1.42 meters.

The Indians’ 4×100 relay team won in 53.79 seconds. Members of the team were Katie Tedrick, Keely Fleeharty, Quincy Niermann and B. Starnes. The 4×200 relay team of Tedrick, Fleeharty, Niermann and B. Starnes won in 1:55.52.

Cumberland’s Emma Ryan captured the triple jump at 9.49 meters.

Windsor/Stew-Stras’ Kalia Friese won the 3200 in 13:26.10 minutes.

North Clay’s Karsyn Gaddy was a winner in the discus with a throw of 33.02 meters.
