Effingham St. Anthony edged Carterville 7-6 in a high school baseball contest Friday.

The Bulldogs stepped out to a 3-0 lead in the second inning but Carterville came right back to tie the score in the third.

The two teams went scoreless through the next three innings before St. Anthony tallied four in the top of the seventh.

The Lions came back in the bottom of the seventh but fell short.

St. Anthony finished with 11 hits and was aided by five Carterville errors.

Charley Spour had a single and triple for the Bulldogs. Ben McDonald and Curtis Tingley finished with a single and two RBI each. Henry Brent added two singles. Aiden Laurtizen ended with two RBI.

Spour picked up the pitching victory. He came on in relief in the fifth and went two innings, giving up two runs on one hit, three walks and striking out two.

At Carterville

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis finished with 12 hits while two pitchers held Marshall to four in a 15-3 victory in five innings Friday.

The Wooden Shoes moved into a 4-1 opening inning lead then busted the game open with a nine-run second.

Austin Borries hit a home run and finished with three RBI. Aidan Niemerg had a single, triple and an RBI. Nolan Schumacher added a single and double, Jason Kreke two singles and two RBI, Bryce Niebrugge a single and three RBI and Teegan Pals and Eric Weidner a single and two RBI each.

Aidan Niemerg went three innings for the pitching win. He gave up one run on three hits. He did not walk a batter and struck out seven.

At Teutopolis

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg blanked Cumberland by a 10-0 count in six innings Friday.

The Hatchets finished with seven hits and were aided by seven Cumberland errors.

Parker Duncan hit a triple and had two RBI while Derk Friese had a double and an RBI. Carter Verdeyen, Branson Tingley, Oliver Wascher and Jacob Vonderheide had a single and an RBI each.

Verdeyen went five innings for the mound victory. He gave up four hits, three walks and struck out seven.

Cumberland finished with four hits led by Grady Jones with a double.

At Windsor

Altamont edged out to a 1-0 opening inning lead and went on for a 7-1 victory over Robinson Friday.

The Indians were on offensively with 12 hits. Kade Milleville had a double and three RBI. Zaine Miller had three singles and an RBI while Brayden Elam had two singles. Cooper McManaway and Blake Berg finished with two singles each.

K. Milleville ended with the pitching victory. He went 6.2 innings, giving up one run on three hits, two walks and striking out five.

At Altamont
