Teutopolis High School’s Alyssa Tipton pitched a perfect game as the Wooden Shoes handed St. Anthony a 10-0 softball loss in action Friday at the Cross Creek Classic. The game was heard on 979XFM.
Both teams went up and down in order in the first. But the Shoes struck in the second inning. Chloe Hoene led off the frame with a double. Kylie Borries grounded out to the third baseman who made the throw to first for the out while Hoene then advanced to third on the throw.
Olivia Wermert was up next and hit a sacrifice fly to right field and Hoene scored.
Tipton, meanwhile, was keeping the Bulldogs off the bases putting the side down in order through the first four innings.
T-town then moved the score to 2-0 in the fourth. Jersey Gaddis drew a leadoff walk. Malea Helmink singled and Hoene aided her own cause with a single that drove Gaddis home.
The Shoes added on four more in the fifth. Mallory Bloemer drew walk and Lauryn Shue followed with a double. A ground out by Kera Hartke produced a run. Gaddis followed with single that scored the second run. With two outs, Hoene singled followed by Kylie Borries drawing a walk. Wermert continued to bring home runs as she hit a single that scored the final two runs in the inning and the Shoes led 6-0.
Meanwhile, Tipton got the Bulldogs up and down in order in the fifth and sixth.
T-town then tallied four more runs to end the game via the 10-run rule in the sixth.
With two outs, Hartke singled and took second on an error. She came home on a single by Gaddis. Helmink and Hoene drew back-to-back walks. Borries then followed with a double that cleared the bases to end the game.
Tipton went the six innings, giving up no runs, no hits, no walks while striking out 11.
Hoene finished with two singles, a double and an RBI while Shue had a double. Gaddis finished with two singles and two RBI. Olivia Wermert had a single and three RBI. Hartke and Borries had a single and an RBI each.
