 T-town Goes 1-1 In Round Robin, St. A Claims Victory, Neoga, Dieterich Drop H.S. Baseball Losses

TEUTOPOLIS — Teutopolis High School played host to Freeburg and Gibault Catholic in round robin baseball Saturday.

Freeburg blanked Teutopolis 2-0 with single runs coming in the fourth and seventh.

T-town finished with four hits, two singles off the bats of Austin Borries and Andy Lustig each.

Freeburg’s Alex Fritz tossed the four-hitter. He did not allow a walk and struck out eight.

Freeburg won over Gibault Catholic, 9-0.

T-town than handed Gibault Catholic a 4-0 loss. The Shoes moved into a 1-0 opening inning lead and had a three-run third.

Davin Worman pitched a one-hitter with one walk while striking out nine.

Nolan Schumacher had a single and an RBI while Borries added an RBI.

Robert Pierpoint had the lone hit for Gibault Catholic with a single.

The Wooden Shoes are now 16-5 on the season.

At Teutopolis

At Mattoon

Effingham St. Anthony tallied a 9-7 victory over Mattoon behind a 12-hit attack Saturday.

The Bulldogs moved into a 3-0 opening inning lead and led 4-2 after three. They added on two more runs in the fourth. But Mattoon came back within 6-5 in the fifth with three runs.

St. Anthony had a 3-2 final inning for the victory.

Aiden Lauritzen and Ben McDonald led the way in hitting with three singles and two RBI each. Charlie Spour added a single and two RBI while Freddie Jansen had a single and an RBI. Blake Verdeyen had two singles. Alex Mayer added an RBI.

Chase Dorris went five innings for the pitching victory. He gave up five runs on four htis, one walk and struck out six. Spour came on to finish the fainl two inigns, giving up two runs on one hit, four walks and three strikeouts.

At Flora

Neoga and Flora went five innings before the Wolves broke loose with two runs Saturday.

Neoga came back with a run in the top of the seventh but fell short by a 2-1 score.

The Indians had four hits led by Evan Fearday with a single and an RBI while Callen Lanham, Braylon Sparrow and Jude Finney had a single each.

Flora had only three hits. Garrett Ballinger went the first four innings giving up no runs on one hit, one walk and striking out four. Fearday suffered the loss, going two innings, giving up two runs on two hits, no walks and striking out two.

Dieterich moved into a 1-0 opening inning lead but Robinson tied in the top of the third and went on for an 8-2 victory Saturday.

Dieterich finished with three hits, all singles by Bryce Bohnhoff, Dominic Ashley and Jackson Icenogle.

Robinson finished with seven hits led by Gunner Hoalt with two doubles and Jetson Hoalt with three singles and an RBI.
