 Dieterich Wins Over SEB, Neoga, N. Clay Claim Victories, EHS, Altamont, CHBC Suffer H.S. Baseball Losses

ST. ELMO — Dieterich finished with 15 hits in handing Brownstown/St. Elmo a 17-3 loss in five innings of high school baseball Tuesday.

The Maroons moved into a 2-0 opening inning lead. They held a 7-3 lead after three innings, then added on two in the fourth and eight in the fifth to end the game via the 10-run rule.

Jackson Icenogle had a good night hitting and on the mound. He had a single, triple and four RBI. On the mound, he went five innings giving up three runs on four hits. He struck out eight and gave up three walks for the win.

Bryce Bohnhoff had two doubles and two RBI while Mason Lidy added three singles and three RBI and Dominic Ashley added three singles and an RBI. Andrew Hall and Justin Boerngen finished with two singles and two RBI each. Gavin Meinhart added a single and an RBI.

Brownstown/St. Elmo was led by Keelan Speagle with a double and Lucas Powell with a single and two RBI. BSE is back in action Thursday against OPS at Patoka.

At Nokomis

Neoga took the first inning lead and tallied a 4-1 victory over Nokomis Tuesday.

The Indians finished with an 11-hit attack. Malik Coy, Grady Ballinger and Cayden Hakman had two singles each. Coy added an RBI. Braylon Sparrow finished with a single and two RBI while Evan Fearday had an RBI.

Garrett Ballinger went three innings for the pitching victory. He gave up three hits, walked four and struck out two. Coy came on to go the second three innings, giving up three hits and striking out one. Hakman finished the final inning giving up one run and one walk.

At Kinmundy

North Clay picked up a National Trail Conference victory against South Central Tuesday.

The Cardinals blanked South Central by a 15-0 count and improved to 19-3 on the season.

North Clay is back in action Friday at Centralia in a 4:30 p.m. contest.

 

At Mahomet

Effingham held a 6-0 lead through the first four innings but Mahomet-Seymour came back with three runs in the fifth and four in the sixth to edge the Hearts, 7-6 Tuesday.

The Hearts outhit Mahomet-Seymour by a 10-6 count but committed three errors.

Carter Braddy and Brody Boehm led the Hearts. Braddy had a single, two home runs and two RBI while Boehm added a single, double, home run and two RBI. Wyatt Hayes also hit a home run and had two RBI.

Braddy went 5.1 innings giving up three runs on five hits, one walk and striking out 12. But two more EHS pitchers gave up two more runs each for the loss.

The Hearts will have a chance to earn a victory over Mahomet-Seymour when the two teams meet today in a 4:30 p.m. contest that can be heard on KJ Country 102.3.

In the junior varsity game, Mahomet-Seymour was a 15-2 winner in five innings.

Effingham had three hits led by K. Rohr, D. Thompson and and N. Wernsing with a single each. Rohr and Thompson had an RBI each.

At Tuscola

This game went 11 innings before Tuscola edged Altamont 8-7 in Tuesday action.

Tuscola moved into a 1-0 opening inning lead then had a four-run second. Altamont fought back with four runs in the third and moved ahead 6-4 in the top of the fourth. Tuscola tied in the sixth.

Then the two teams went four innings without scoring. Altamont pushed across what looked like the winning run in the top of the 11 but Tuscola came back, scoring two runs for the victory.

Altamont finished with 16 hits, four more than Tuscola but committed three errors.

Brayden Elam led the way with a double and solo home run. Carson Milleville had a single and double while Zaine Miller had three singles and two RBI, Kale Davis two singles and an RBI. Kade Milleville three singles, Cooper McManaway a single and two RBI and Kaiden Wolff a single and an RBI.

At Tuscola

At Okaw Valley

Okaw Valley played host to Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City and sent the Bobcats home with a 5-3 loss Tuesday.

CHBC held a 1-0 lead after two innings but Okaw Valley tied in the third and moved ahead 4-1 in the fourth. CHBC came back with two runs in the top of the sixth but Okaw Valley scored a final run in the bottom of the sixth for the winning margin.

The Bobcats had six hits led by Isaac Wells with a double and an RBI, Connor Vaughn with two singles and Cayden Ondes with a single and an RBI.
