 Bulldogs Capture Four Singles Matches, Sweep Doubles Play In Tennis Victory

Effingham St. Anthony easily handled Charleston in high school tennis competition by a 7-2 score Tuesday.

The Bulldogs picked up four of the six singles matches. Three of those players went 6-0, 6-0. Drake Brown won the No. 3 spot while Charlie Bierman blanked his opponent at No. 4 and Max Gillenwater took the No. 6 victory, also by a 6-0, 6-0 tally.

At No. 5, Mason Jones was a 6-2, 6-4 winner.

In doubles play, the Bulldogs swept.

Jackson Schultz and Brown combined for a victory. The pair fell in the opening set 6-4 but rallied for 7-5, 11-9 scores for the win.

Alec Hakman and Bierman were easy 6-1, 6-1 winners at No. 2.

The No. 3 position went to Jones and Gillenwater by 6-1, 6-4 sets.
