Two vehicles collided Saturday afternoon on Illinois Route 33 at 2200th Street.
Effingham County Sheriff’s Office reported a car driven by 24-year-old Colton Hayes of Hutsonville was eastbound at 4:28pm, while a vehicle driven by 76-year-old Dennis Yokley of Mt. Olive, pulling a boat and trailer, was westbound.
Deputies reported the Hayes vehicle entered the westbound lane of traffic and struck the Yokley vehicle. Yokley’s boat trailer was flipped in the collision, causing damage to the trailer and boat. Both vehicles and the boat and trailer were towed from the scene.
Yokley and a passenger, 79-year-old Danny Leonard of Litchfield, were injured and were transported by Rural Med EMS to HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham. Hayes refused treatment.
Hayes was cited for improper lane usage.
