Bradley Scott Murphy, 42, of Toledo, Illinois passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at his home.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 13th, 2026, from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Toledo. Graveside funeral services will be at 1:30 pm at the Toledo Cemetery with Pastor Greg Boldt officiating.

Scott was born on Super Bowl Sunday, January 22, 1984, to Bradley and Dawn “Shelley” Murphy in Mattoon, Illinois.

He leaves behind his beloved children, Gatlin and Brittlin Murphy, who were his greatest joy. Being their dad was the role he cherished most. From wiffle ball games in the front yard, to games of pig and one-on-ones in the driveway, to passing the football—those moments meant everything to him. In recent years, he especially enjoyed cheering them on at their baseball, softball, basketball, and football games.

He is also survived by his loved ones, including his father, Brad; his grandmothers, Anita Cutts and Carol Murphy; his aunts and uncles, David (Rachel) Cutts, Dustin Cutts, Marci Smith, Brian (Patti) Murphy, Kellie Murphy, and Jackie Hatten; along with a full house of cousins and second cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother Shelley Murphy, grandpa Harold Cutts, grandpa Larry Murphy, uncle Monte, and special 2nd cousin Jade Smith.

He had a deep love for the outdoors, where he felt most at peace. An avid deer hunter, he cherished early mornings in the woods, the quiet of nature, and the traditions that came with each season. Those who knew him knew that hunting wasn’t just a hobby—it was a passion and a way of life.

“Those we love don’t go away; they walk beside us every day.”

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made out to the Cumberland Booster Club.
