MARTINSVILLE — One of the very few high school softball games that was contested around the area Thursday included Dieterich’s 19-1 pounding of Martinsville.
Martinsville held a 1-0 lead in the second inning. But The Maroons went on a run, scoring 12 in the third inning then tacking on three in the fourth and ending the game with four more in the fifth.
The Maroons had six hits. Allison Boerngen had a double and four RBI while Claire Faller finished with two singles and two RBI. Aliza Garner added a single and two RBI and Lydia Wohltman and Lexie Funneman a single and an RBI each. Callie Faller chipped in with two RBI while Kensi Stortzum and Addi Huber added an RBI each.
Boerngen went all five innings on the mound. She gave up one run on two hits, did not walk a batter and struck out five.
