Westin Hayes collected three hits as Effingham bounced Salem by a 12-2 tally Tuesday.
Hayes singled in the first inning, doubled in the third and singled in the fifth.
The Hearts got on the board in the bottom of the first after Carter Braddy doubled, scoring two runs and Max Flack singled, scoring a run.
Singles by Wyatt Hayes and Jacob Warner and a double by Westin Hayes helped the Hearts extend their early lead in the third.
Flack earned the win on the mound. He gave up two unearned runs and two hits over five innings. He struck out four and walked four.
EHS finished with 13 hits in the contest. We. Hayes had two singles, a double and three RBI while Braddy had a single, double and three RBI. Brayden Tucker had two singles and two RBI. Brody Boehm, Jude Traub and Keegan Koester had a double each. Jacob Warner had a single and drove in two runs while Flack and Wy. Hayes had a single and an RBI each.
In the junior varsity game, Salem was a 10-4 winner despite being outhit by a 10-4 count by the Hearts.
Kalber had a single, double and an RBI for the Hearts while D. Thompson had two singles and C. Westjohn a single and an RBI.

Neoga blanked Brownstown/St. Elmo, 5-0 in action Tuesday.
The Indians moved into a 2-0 opening inning lead then tacked on a single run in the fifth and two in the seventh.
Neoga had eight hits led by Braylon Sparrow with a single, double and an RBI, Malik Coy with two singles and an RBI, Evan Fearday with a single and an RBI and B. Matusas with an RBI.
BSE was led by Logan Lach with a double. The Bombers drop to 2-3 on the season and are back in action Thursday against South Central.
Cayden Hakman was the winning pitcher. He went all seven innings, giving up no runs on two hits, one walk while striking out eight.

Teutopolis moved into a 3-1 opening inning lead and went on for a 10-1 victory over Breese Mater Dei Tuesday.
The Wooden Shoes banged out 13 hits. Jason Kreke had a single, home run and two RBI while Davin Worman had three singles and two RBI and Aidan Niemerg a single, double and two RBI. Andy Lustig added a single and triple and Nolan Schumacher a double. Hayden Tebbe had a single and an RBI and Austin Borries finished with an RBI.
Borries went three innings for the victory on the mound. He gave up one run on three hits, did not walk a batter and struck out two.
T-town also was a winner in the junior varsity game, 6-4.
The Shoes had eight hits led by B. Schumacher and B. Niemerg with two singles each, L. Niebrugge with a double and an RBI, W. Bushur with a single and an RBI and G. Martin with an RBI.

North Clay/Clay City broke a 2-2 opening inning tie with a six-run second and went on for an 11-5 victory over Dieterich Tuesday.
The Cardinals finished with 14 hits in the contest. Cooper Lewis led the way with three singles, a triple and two RBI while Trenton Ingram finished with three singles and three RBI. Jack Compton added a double and three RBI, Ian Jones two singles and an RBI, Cody Zimdars two singles and Trevan Sidwell with an RBI.
Compton went five innings for the pitching win. He gave up four runs on four hits, did not walk a batter and struck out four. Zimdars came on in relief to toss two innings, giving up a hit, a run and a walk.
Dieterich was led in hitting by Bryce Bohnhoff with a single and two doubles. Dominic Ashley had two RBI and Gavin Meinhard one RBI.

Newton played host to Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg and sent the Hatchets home with a 7-2 loss Tuesday.
The Eagles edged out to a 1-0 first inning lead, tacked on two in the second and had two-run innings in the fifth and sixth.
Carson Barthelme had two singles and a double for the winners while David Ferguson added a double and two RBI, Quincy Fulton three singles and an RBI, Maddox Horner a single and an RBI and Reed Tharp two RBI.
Windsor/Stew-Stras had eight hits led by Wyatt Wetherell with two singles and two RBI and Noah Pruemer with two singles.
Drake Wolf was the winning pitcher. He went five innings, giving up two runs on four hits, walking one and striking out one.

The Indians led 2-0 in the opening inning, then had five-run innings in the second and third and finished with three runs in the fourth.
Altamont had four hits led by Carson Milleville with two singles and three RBI, Reed Stuemke with two singles and an RBI and Brayden Elam with a double and an RBI. Kade Milleville, TJ Hyatt, Parker Bell and Blake Berg had an RBI each.
Zaine Miller went the four innings, giving up no runs on two hits and striking out eight.
Cisne gave up six hits and walked seven batters.

CHBC moved into a 3-0 opening inning lead then added on two runs in the second. The Bobcats scored another three runs in the fourth and finished with one in the sixth.
CHBC had nine hits led by Isaac Wells with two doubles and three RBI, Connor Vaughn with two singles, a double and an RBI and Clive Schlanser with two singles.
Schlanser went the distance on the mound. He gave up four hits, three walks and struck out seven.
