Effingham High School handed Fairfield an 8-1 loss in tennis competition Monday.
The Hearts swept doubles play. Rece Kinney and Cannon Bockhorn were 6-3, 6-2 winners at the No. 1 spot while Joel Flack and Brady Wilson took the second match, 6-0, 6-1. At the No. 3 spot, Rowyn Frey and Cole Jones made the sweep complete. The pair lost in the opening set 6-4 but came back with 6-3, 10-5 counts for the match.
In singles action, Kinney won at No. 1, 6-0, 6-1 while Bockhorn took the No. 2 spot, 6-1, 6-1.
Flack claimed No. 3, 6-2, 6-2 while Wilson won at No. 4, 6-2, 6-1. Jones rounded out the singles wins at No. 5, 6-1, 6-0.
