A Cisne teenager was killed when his side-by-side was struck by a semi.
15-year-old Owen W. Bailey was traveling westbound on the shoulder of US Route 50 and was attempting to make a left-hand turn when he pulled out in front of the eastbound semi and the semi struck the side-by-side.
Clay County Coroner Bryce Henry said Bailey was taken to Clay County Hospital in Flora, where he was pronounced dead.
The crash happened at 6:43pm Sunday. The incident is under investigation by the Illinois State Police and the Clay County Coroner’s Office. Other agencies assisting were Xenia Fire Protection District, Clay County Ambulance Service, Clay County Sheriff’s Office, Flora ESDA, and Illinois Department of Transportation.
