The Effingham County Chamber has announced its 1st Quarter award recipients, recognizing one outstanding business and one non-profit organization for their contributions to the local community.

The Non-Profit of the Quarter award has been presented to Poss Music Works, a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to bringing music and culture to Downstate Illinois, with Effingham at the center of its efforts. The organization hosts live music events, festivals, and educational opportunities that support both artists and the community.

Poss Music Works is known for its lineup of signature festivals and events, including:

  • Moccasin Creek Festival | June 18–21, 2026

  • Summer Sundown Music Festival | September 11–13, 2026

  • Little Grassy Get Down | October 9–11, 2026

Through these events and ongoing programming, the organization continues to foster a vibrant music scene and create meaningful experiences for residents and visitors alike.

The Business of the Quarter award has been presented to Joe Sippers Café, a locally owned coffee bar and kitchen located in downtown Effingham. Known for its commitment to quality and community, Joe Sippers Café has built more than just a place to grab coffee; it’s created a space where people feel connected.

The café regularly supports local initiatives and gives back to the community while also showcasing local creativity throughout the shop, from children’s artwork displayed on the walls to locally crafted mugs.

“These recognitions highlight organizations that are making a real impact in Effingham County,” said Katie Koester, President & CEO of the Effingham County Chamber. “Both Poss Music Works and Joe Sippers Café play important roles in creating experiences, supporting local connections, and strengthening our community.”

The Chamber encourages members to continue submitting nominations for future quarters. To be eligible, nominees must be current Chamber members in good standing, and individuals may not nominate their own business or organization. Nominations roll over each quarter through the end of the year for additional consideration.
