Carter Braddy drove in six runs on two hits to lead Effingham High School past Marshall, 15-1 in baseball action Tuesday.
Braddy tripled in the first, scoring a run, hit a grand slam to right field in the fourth scoring four and also hit a sacrifice fly in the fourth, scoring one.
The Hearts edged out to a 2-1 opening inning lead and tacked on a single run in the second and led 5-1 in the third. EHS then broke loose with a 10-run fourth in a game that ended in the fifth.
Wyatt Hayes doubled, scoring three runs, Keegan Koester singled scoring a run, Jude Traub hit into a fielder’s choice that scored a run and Braddy hit his grand slam, all in the fourth.
A ground out by Max Welsh put Marshall on the board in the top of the first. But the Hearts came right back to knock in two runs in the first then moved into a 3-1 lead in the second and a 5-1 lead in the third before the 10-run fourth.
James Wendt earned the win on the mound. He surrendered four hits and one run over five innings, striking out four and walking none.
Effingham will return to action Friday hosting Altamont.

At Teutopolis
Teutopolis’ Austin Borries tossed a no-hitter through five innings as the Wooden Shoes blanked Greenville, 8-0 Tuesday.
Borries struck out 10 and gave up only three hits. Hayden Tebbe went the final two innings, allowing no hits, walking two and striking out two.
Meanwhile, the Shoes finished with five hits. Jason Kreke had three of those hits with two singles, a double and an RBI. Teagan Pals and Andy Lustig added a single and two RBI each while Gavin Addis had an RBI.
The Shoes are back in action Thursday hosting Casey-Westfield.

North Clay ran out to a 15-0 opening inning lead and ended this game 22-3 in the fourth inning against Brownstown/St. Elmo Tuesday at Bob Page Field.
The Cardinals had seven hits while Brownstown/St. Elmo finished with three.
Calvin Voelker had a triple for BSE while Lucas Powell had a single and an RBI and Bentley Sanders a single.
North Clay improved to a perfect 5-0.
Brownstown/St. Elmo (2-1) is back in action Friday at Okaw Valley.

Newton moved into a 3-0 opening inning lead and went on to beat Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine by an 11-2 count Tuesday.
The Eagles had a six-run third and finished with two runs in the sixth. The team ended with eight hits led by Gavin Meinhart and Dominic Baltzell with a single and double each. Baltzell had one RBI. Dexter Fulton and Nolen Cleaver with a double each. Fulton had two RBI. Reed Tharp had a single and an RBI and David Ferguson and Jackson James had an RBI each.
Meinhart went four innings for the pitching win. He gave up only one hit, no runs, no walks and struck out four.

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg defeated Pana Tuesday by a 6-2 tally.
The win gives the Hatchets a 3-0 record.
At St. Anthony
St. Joseph-Ogden’s Parker Fitch tossed 6.2 innings of two-hit ball and kept Effingham St. Anthony off the basepaths with 10 strikeouts as the Spartans blanked the Bulldogs 7-0 Tuesday.
Fitch allowed only one walk. Trevor Ames finished out the final out.
The Bulldogs were led by Blake Verdeyen and Will Vonderheide with a single each.
St. Anthony went through three pitchers who gave up a total eight hits, four walks and struck out six.
St. Anthony edged Robinson 5-3 in a junior varsity contest.
The Bulldogs had 10 hits led by Charlie Hoene with three singles, Curtis Tingley with a triple and Jonny Gannaway with two singles and an RBI. Andrew Wagner, Mike Fearday and Owen Wrigley had a single and an RBI each.
